Careyes will be the backdrop of what is sure to be a transformative week. It is a unique, up-scale slice of paradise, where the brilliant power of nature converges with barefoot elegance. (More about Careyes here.)
This will be Laura’s 20th retreat to Elixir de Careyes and every retreat is more magical than the last! Laura has developed a deep connection to this magical land and loves to share it with others. Beautiful new friendships always form, while old ones deepen and a real sense of community and transformation is always experienced. You’ll enjoy Laura’s impassioned Dynamic Form Hatha Yoga classes each morning for 2.5 hours, and the deeply rejuvenating Restorative Yoga practices in the late afternoons. Practical life-affirming discussions will be introduced for contemplation, and to inspire the creation and practice of living a healthy lifestyle and “Good Life!” The classes will be taught in a progressive fashion with each class building upon the last so that your practice will deepen over the course of the week. It will include in-depth workshops on core strength, shoulder opening and stabilizing, hip opening and stabilizing, back-bending, spinal elongation, hamstring lengthening and forward bending, twists, inversions, arm balances and more. A supportive and friendly environment will be the foundation in which we dive into our journey and grow.
AND this year, we are excited to enhance the healing experience by bringing on Intermittent Fasting coach, Laurie Lewis. If you are curious about Intermittent Fasting – time restricted eating – this is the perfect time to explore how it works and experience the benefits. An optional aspect of our week together will be to participate in group-learning sessions, 1:1 coaching conversations, and perfectly timed-meals -- all are included!
Being drenched in beauty – nature, conversation, our bodies, quiet rest, delicious foods – is the theme of our week together. One OPTIONAL aspect of this healing nourishment is to take pause from eating for a portion of each day. Imagine, returning home from your soul-nourishing vacation, feeling light and free!
The food in Careyes is always a highlight! The 3 meals each day are served family-style on oversized Lazy Susans custom-built right into the huge round tables – which guests really appreciate for the conversations and bonding time they promote. For those who are participating in Intermittent Fasting, you will be able to choose which meals and snacks you would like to enjoy. And for those who are not, you will be served 3 meals a day and snacks when desired. Our very own villa chef prepares plenty of choices and an abundance of everything: a selection of salads, a plethora of vegetables and tropical fruits, fresh fruit juices, fresh seafood, chicken, Jalisco specialties, king-sized platters of guacamole, grains, potatoes, and delightful homemade desserts. Special dietary requests and restrictions are accommodated as best as possible and always with a smile.
If you choose to participate in intermittent fasting, you will pre-select which meals you’d like to enjoy the following day (1, 2, or 3). We promise, you’ll love the food, as well as the pauses from eating, and you will feel well-fed and satisfied. Also, ALL of this is optional, and if you choose to indulge 3 times a day, you are welcome to!

Intermittent Fasting group workshop session via Zoom. Three weeks prior to the trip, Laurie will lead a 75-minute live, online tutorial on the benefits of Intermittent Fasting and how to begin. If you choose to participate, you will be set up to start your practice that evening. We encourage you to participate live, but for those who cannot a recorded version will be sent to you.

She is enthusiastically committed to broadening her studies and her breadth of offerings as a teacher. She thrives as a student and values the opportunities to learn experientially from her phenomenal students and the many extraordinary teachers in the yoga community. She enjoys learning from the many different systems of yoga and other modalities. Laura graduated Summa Cum Laude from Santa Clara University with a B.S. in Psychology. Before teaching yoga full-time, she worked in the corporate world at Robertson Stephens and Charles Schwab.

About Your Coach, Laurie Lewis
Laurie Lewis has changed thousands of lives through her Intermittent Fasting workshops, seminars, and coaching. Stubborn hormonal fat hit hard in 2012, causing her to suddenly gain 50 pounds. The tricks that always worked made no difference. In 2017, an unexpected video turned the course of her life, and she started Intermittent Fasting immediately. Within days the fog lifted and she felt “like herself.” Laurie has restored her health, slender weight, and at 56-years old has been happily practicing Intermittent Fasting for over two years.
