About Elixir de Careyes

Simply put, Elixir de Careyes is the best place in the world for a retreat! In addition to participating in and leading more than 60 yoga retreats, Retreat Savvy has also conducted extensive research on hundreds of retreat centers. In the end, Treat has discovered that there is simply no place on earth that is more ideally suited for reTREATing than Careyes.

CAREYES

Careyes is a unique, up-scale slice of paradise, where the brilliance of nature converges with barefoot elegance. Think chic luxury, minus the pretense. It is a private and magical land founded by Gian Franco Brignone, a great visionary, artist, alchemist of space, and lover of nature. He blended Mediterranean flavors, and the bold colors and openness of Mexico with the magnificence of nature to create the magic that is Careyes. It’s thrilling while still being completely safe and stress-free. The splendor of Careyes will capture your heart and soothe your soul as soon as you arrive.

VILLAS

Your group will have exclusive use of one or two of the architecturally-dramatic and extraordinary private villas. Each uniquely-stunning private paradise boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, open-air luxurious lounges with soaring palapas and oversized sofas, ocean-view dining areas, infinity pools built into the cliff’s edge, Jacuzzis, and comfortably-appointed, enclosed rooms with big double doors, custom furniture and sizable bathtubs. The expansive property provides ample space for community connection while also allowing individuals to carve out private time and space. You will enjoy the comforts of home – i.e., electricity, hot water, air-conditioning and wifi – without the responsibilities! Its size, lounging and poolside areas, and dining rooms promote an intimate feeling, while the spacious lay-out and vistas simultaneously make you feel like you are living large.

POOLS

The signature Careyes cascading infinity pools are world-famous – you may have seen them before, as they have been featured in several movies, location fashion shoots, architectural and design magazines, and reality TV shows. Perched on the cliff’s edge overlooking the pristine coastline they are thrilling to look at. The staff’s continued commitment to keeping them impeccably clean, and the pure, mild salt water, makes them extremely inviting to swim and bathe in. The Jacuzzis are equally enticing.

FOOD

The food is fresh, organic, local, healthy, simple and delicious, and always a highlight. Meals are served family-style on oversized Lazy Susans custom-built right into the huge round tables – which guests really appreciate for the conversations and bonding time they promote. Our very own villa chef prepares plenty of choices and an abundance of everything: a selection of salads, a plethora of vegetables and tropical fruits, fresh fruit juices, grains, potatoes, fresh seafood, chicken, Jalisco specialties, king-sized platters of guacamole, and delightful homemade desserts. Special dietary requests and restrictions are accommodated as best as possible and always with a smile.

YOGA

The idyllic outdoor yoga pavilion is surrounded by a lush jungle and complete with bamboo floors, lounging area, fresh flowers, stereo, an indoor and outdoor shower, steam room, purified water, towels and enough yoga props for even the best restorative yoga classes – yes, including sandbags! Leading down a staircase to the studio, a waterfall dips into the canal that surrounds the space and adds to the musical sound of the sweet serenading birds. Sole occupancy of the venue by your retreat group means that you, your teacher and your group will join together to create the desired energy.

NATURE

The magical thing about Costa Careyes, “Turtle Coast”, is not just the architectural masterpieces that have been built but what has not been built. There is an absolute respect and commitment to the preservation of nature. The stunning and tranquil oasis sits within a lush 32,000-acre natural reserve, delights each of the senses and allows for a deep transformational experience on the journey of self-exploration. There is a wealth of exotic birds, flora and fauna, and a sea turtle preservation center. In fact “Carey” is a native word referring to the Hawksbill turtle. The unspoiled beaches are exclusive and within walking distance. There are no beach vendors and no beach crowds. The pristine warm ocean invites swimmers. The tranquil, yet prana-rich ambience is the perfect environment in which to retreat, rejuvenate, meditate and/or play, laugh, dance, connect with nature, and bond with your group.

SERVICE

Each villa has a designated and professional on-site butler, chef and staff who will surely make your week in Careyes extra special with their unparalleled hospitality. They are highly attentive and offer personal service that makes you feel truly cared for. They are friendly and thoughtful, yet unobtrusive.

ACTIVITIES

Careyes offers such a naturally prana-filled, therapeutic environment ideal for healing, rejuvenating, meditating, sun-bathing, reading, journaling, and relaxing, that guests may not want to ever leave the property, and yet a host of activities awaits. De-stress in the steam room or unwind with a massage on your balcony. Visit the private beaches, swim in the ocean, stand up paddle, kayak, go bird watching, take a boat ride to view the pristine coastline, go snorkeling, whale watching (December to March) and dolphin watching, go horseback riding, watch a polo match, savor the sunset and the stunning panoramic view from the rooftops. Surfing is available during certain times of the year and is about a 20-minute ride away. Plus, there are always lots of surprises, including a special excursion day in the middle of the week that may include a castle visit!

WEATHER

The sun-kissed microclimate offers 340 days of sunshine. The inviting average daytime temperatures are a low 80’s, and the nighttime average of high 60’s in the cooler months (December, January and February), and low 70’s the rest of the season. The hot and rainy season is during the summer months and not the best time to visit. The delightful cool sea breeze can be felt throughout the year.
